Self Healing begins with making change; shifting habits in our daily lives.
Make the shift; create the change you need, you crave, now. Skip making more excuses.

Try these life changing steps:
1. What is the problem, challenge? Write it down, give it a face.
2. Brainstorm: How can I solve this problem, fix this life challenge?
3. Pick the best option(s) from above and move forward... start making change today.
4. Creating positive action around change prevents looking back at life with regrets.
5. Love yourself and others unconditionally! Peaceful, loving kindness makes change easier on you and everyone around you.
Gratitude Is A Form of Self-Love
Life is what happens when we are busy planning our lives.
A comment made to me yesterday inspired this post.
Comment: Nothing in life ever turns out the way we plan it to, want it to.
I do not believe this to be true and I think when we put our focus on not getting what we planned or wanted, this is all we are going to see.
If we face life with gratitude for all we do have and all that does turn out as planned, our vision of the day and life is so different.
I remember a girlfriend's x-husband said this to her when she was pregnant: "Expect nothing from me and everything you get will be a gift." I confess, at the time I thought "what an asshole he is!" Many years later I can see the wisdom of his words (not that it was so wise to say to your pregnant wife!)
When we expect nothing out of the day or a given situation and open our arms with gratitude to all that does happen, our world is colored in a completely different way. Brilliant technicolor of joy. Gratitude is the attitude of joy - it colors everything in a new light.
Let the doors of life be open to synchronicity. Let your heart be open to synchronicity. As cliche' as it sounds most things do work out for the best. We may not see this in a given moment but hind sight usually tells a different story. Find the magic in life unfolding in every moment.
Gratitude brings peace. Gratitude is self-love. Listen to your heart, it knows.
My Bathroom Wall Quote
PS After writing and posting this last evening, one of my morning inspirational emails came through with this: (Serendipity rocks!)
Life IS A Symphony
Life is a symphony meant to flow in harmony with self and all life on this planet.
When we live in this harmony with nature (we are nature) the music of the universe becomes the dance of life.
So many of us work against this flow, thinking we are wiser than the laws of nature; perhaps that we are above the laws of nature.
I invite you to do this:
- Sit or lie down in a comfortable position,
- Close your eyes,
- Take 10 slow, deep belly breaths (breathing from the belly makes the diaphragm drop down and allows your lungs to fully expand, your breath of life!),
- Envision yourself in the flow of life, all things in harmony,
- Allow this vision to stay with you as you continue to deep breathe,
- Start at your head and visualize each and every body organ & body part, one by one, until you reach your toes; visualize them alive with love, life force energy, that glowing white light,
- Finish up with 10 more slow deep breaths.
- Slowly bring yourself back to the present moment.
Your body, mind, and spirit should feel refreshed and alive, ready to meet the day's challenges with peace.
Anytime you arrive at a snag in your day, pause for just a moment, deep breathe and visualize the white light running from the center of your head to your toes. This is a quickie mindfulness meditation to bring calm and patience to the moment.
Remember your body is an amazing healing organism, part of the harmony of the universe. Allowing yourself to be in this harmony creates a healing effect in each and every body cell.
Healing Blessings, Paula
Hugs ARE Better Than Drugs!
Hugs have an amazing capacity to:
- bring peace
- soothe the soul
- ease tension and heal an argument
- infuse your life with love
- reduces cravings for sugar, sweets
- heal the human body, mind, and soul!
What exactly do hugs do that is so amazing?
Hugs promote the release of oxytocin, the love hormone. Oxytocin is the hormone that is releases when women give birth, when we nurse our infants, when we have loving sexual encounters, and at other happy times. When your body releases oxytocin the hormone has a calming, peaceful effect on your body because cortisol (think stress hormone) levels go down! This reduces stress and increases feelings of well-being in your world!
Lowering your stress levels through oxytocin and low cortisol levels helps to reduce blood pressure, boosts your immune function, dopamine levels go up (pleasure hormone), and serotonin levels rise (happy, feel good hormone). There is literally a ripple effect of health and mood enhancing biochemical effects that happen when we hug.
I once heard a natural healer compare the body's biochemical reaction to hugs like the reaction to the chemical cocktail ecstasy (a pleasure inducing street drug).
Seems to me that giving and receiving hugs is so much easier, no bad side effects, and readily available. Maybe we should start selling hugs on street corners! Just a thought.
Action to take:
- Get Hugging! It is good for your health and, if you need another reason, all the above health benefits of hugs help your body balance your weight. Give hugs, lose extra body weight!
- Get a massage. Human, healing touch releases oxytocin.
- Pat a friend on the back... oxytocin is released!
- Love up your pets. Pets like hugs too and you both benefit!
- Hug a tree!
Tell me your hug stories in the comments below.
People hugs are good!
Tree hugs too!
Holistic Healing Taste Testing
My latest Holistic Healing Taste Test has been with Jody Wallace. Jody is a Massage Therapist, Plant Spirit Medicine Healer, Atlas Balance Energy Healer, Ayurveda, and other forms of natural healing - body balancing techniques.
I had Jody do the Atlas Balancing sessions on my spine. I have to say I am impressed with the results on my long-term issues with sciatica and low back / hip aches. Jody also gives an impressive massage. I asked her to rub deeply as I prefer the deep tissue work. Her hands did an amazing job making my muscles and connective tissue feel the "aaahhhhh!"
Check out this space to find out more about Jody. Give her a call; you will be glad you did!

The Final Tip: Divine Weight Loss
This is it... the final weight loss tip coming to you with LOVE.
Truly, I could write many more. I want to inspire you and not overwhelm.
Final Divine Weight Loss Tip:
Gratitude: An attitude of gratitude for everything in your life and all you are as a divine human being does wonders in the quest to make healthy choices. When you see yourself, truly for the divine spirit you are, the natural tendency is for TLC towards self.
Practice gratitude for you.
Every AM, wake up and make your first thought about what you are grateful for today. Make something up if you have to and stick with it. Every PM, as you are shutting your eyes for the day, visualize one thing that happened today that you are grateful for. Anything counts, even that you made it through the day. Heart centered thanks to self for that fact. Each day, finding 1 thing to be grateful as the sun comes up and again, as the moon shows her face, will get easier & easier. It is a practice.
Remember: There is no perfection and yet you are perfection.
If this sounds counter-intuitive to you, try practicing honoring your divine being every day in everything you do. Let me know how this changes your attitude about you and your actions towards yourself. I love to hear people's amazing stories about their health and healing.
I often have people say to me things like: "I can't be as perfect as you, Paula, around food choices and exercise." Trust me... I am not perfect. But, I do make choices from this space:
Is this natural for my body?
Will it feed my cellular health?
Will this choice inspire my highest good on this planet so I can best serve myself and others?
I move on from this space and make my choices. This attitude, coming from my mind, heart, and soul, makes it easy for me to choose healthy lifestyle options. Then I slather my choice with gratitude! Much as I slather my life with butter. But that’s another story.
Strive for Purr-Fection: Ever notice how cats are Purr-Fectly content in just about any situation? Approach life from a cat mentality and make the situation Purr-Fect in the moment!
I wish you calm and peace as you heal mind, body, and spirit and re-balance your weight and health.
Cats being Purr-Fect:
Dogs are Purr-Fect too but in a totally different way. ; )

1. Gently saute' onions in much yummy butter, 2-3 minutes.
2. Add grated celeriac and saute' gently for 2-3 minutes.
3. Pop in some chunks of frozen red peppers and green beans (Thank you Megan Kent for putting these veggies up!).
4. Crush one large clove of garlic and stir it all up.
5. Cover cast iron pan & turn off heat.
6. Finish making my root veggie slaw, the rest of dinner selections, and serve up the yummy celeriac dish, see below!
My Advice: LOVE your celeriac. It will LOVE you back!
Check out the Kent's interview on North Country Public Radio!
